Delta vs. Air France on Twitter

Twitter is an effective social media-marketing tool that many brands/companies use. Delta has 1.11M followers and 11.9K tweets. Air France has 223K followers and 116K tweets. Delta Twitter account is very updated frequently. The past 25 tweets on their twitter page has been once or twice a day. They tweet hash tags that are trending on twitter that will attract new followers. Air France’s twitter page is not as frequently compared to Delta’s. Air France tweets usually tweets once a week or twice a week. They also use hash tags that are trending on Twitter. Some of Delta’s content that they tweet is about promotional, discounts, events, pictures, videos and industry facts. Air France content of their tweets are pictures, videos, contest, events and promotional. Delta uses the 50/50 rule but not as much. You have to keep scroll on their page to find some. This goes for the same Air France using the 50/50 rule.

Some hash tags that Delta uses to attract new followers are:
-       #tbt
-       #wcw
-       #DeltaStarAwards
-       #Travel Tuesday
-       #thegiftbackproject
-       #Keepclimbing
-       #Safetys
-       & More

Some hash tags that Air France uses to attract new followers are:
-       #AirFrance
-       #Travelbyairfrance
-       #TravelTuesday
-       #Paris
-       #Franceisintheair
-       #Aircraft
-       & More

One of Delta’s most recent successful tweet was posted on March 8th, 2016. This tweet was promoting International Women’s Day 2016! It says “To the women who inspire us to chase our dreams and to #keepclimbing. Happy International Women’s Day! #IWD2016”. With this tweet it has a picture of a flight attendant attached. This tweet had 99 retweets and 279 likes. I think this tweet was successful because it is bring awareness to both Delta and promoting International Women’s day. This can be an example of them using the 50/50 rule.

One of Air France’s most recent successful tweet was posted on January 28th, 2016. This tweet is a picture of a selfie of a pilot upside showing a plane behind him. It says “Upside down selfie with the 747! #selfie #AF747 #AirFrance.” It has 1.1K retweets and 1.2K likes. I think this post was so successful because Air France does not usually post tweets like this, and it grabbed everyone’s attention.
