Twitter - Porter Vs. American Airlines

Twitter is very different from Facebook, posts need to be quick and too the point without too much information. Hashtags also can prove to be beneficial with the ability to access other viewers without directly targeting them.

A good example of an airline using a situation hashtag was Porter with #viewsfromthesix and #the6ix. Originally these hashtags were created by the Rapper Drake who originates from Toronto, which has as affectionately been called the 6 as of late due to the 416 area code. On top of #the6ix hashtag porter also brands all of their tweets with #flyporter. 50/50 is used prominently from Porter with their most successful tweet coming from a retweet. See below. This tweet being their most successful is somewhat self explanatory, it’s an oddity. It stood out on viewer’s timelines and made them stop and look. Seeing an iceberg is not a daily experience!

American Airlines frequently tweets as well about once a day always including #AATeam.
With their most successful tweet coming recently. The reason this tweet was so successful is most likely due to the patriotism that the United States of America shows. Supporting the troops is one of the largest movements in the USA to date. This tweet discusses a Patriot returning home after his fourth tour of Duty and being surprised by his uncle as the captain of the flight home.
